STRIKE/WATCH

Terms of Use & Privacy Notice · Effective 12 June 2026 · Operated by Ordinary World Limited (England)

Read this first — safety

StrikeWatch is an information and decision-support service. It is not a safety system, a warning system of record, or a substitute for your own judgement. Lightning detection data can be delayed, incomplete or inaccurate, and connectivity can fail at any moment. Match officials, venues and event organisers make decisions using certified detection systems; you must never rely on StrikeWatch for personal safety or for any decision where life, health or property is at risk. If you can hear thunder or see lightning, act on official guidance immediately — do not wait for this app.

Terms of Use

1. Who we are and what this is

StrikeWatch ("the Service") is operated by Ordinary World Limited, a company registered in England ("we", "us"). The Service displays third-party lightning detection data and applies publicly known match-suspension conventions (such as an 8-mile / 30-minute rule) for general information and entertainment.

2. Independence

StrikeWatch is independent. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to FIFA, any tournament organiser, any team, venue, or governing body. Any suspension status shown in the Service is our calculation from raw strike data — it is not an official match status and may differ from decisions actually taken at a venue.

3. Acceptable use

You may use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes. You must not: resell, scrape, or redistribute the data; use the Service as an input to any safety-critical, operational, or automated decision system; misrepresent the Service's output as official; or attempt to disrupt, overload, or reverse the Service or its upstream data feeds.

4. Data sources and accuracy

Strike data is provided by third-party detection networks. We do not control and cannot verify the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of that data. When the Service displays "DEMO MODE", the data shown is simulated and does not represent real weather. All outputs — including suspension status, countdowns and alerts — are estimates provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or availability.

5. Alerts and notifications

In-app alerts, notifications, and optional effects (including the "Storm FX" screen flash and vibration) depend on your device, browser, network and settings, and may be delayed, suppressed or not delivered at all. They are a convenience, not a warning service. The Storm FX feature involves flashing imagery and is unsuitable for people with photosensitive epilepsy; it is off by default and you enable it at your own risk.

6. Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under the law of England and Wales, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.

Subject to that: (a) the Service is provided free of charge, and to the fullest extent permitted by law we exclude all liability for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service or its data, including indirect or consequential loss, loss of opportunity, and losses arising from decisions made or not made in reliance on the Service; and (b) if liability cannot be excluded, our total aggregate liability to you is limited to £100. You acknowledge the safety notice above is fundamental to our willingness to provide the Service free of charge.

7. Intellectual property

The Service's design, code and branding belong to Ordinary World Limited or its licensors. Underlying lightning data remains the property of its network providers.

8. Changes and termination

This is a beta service. We may change, suspend or withdraw it (or these terms) at any time without notice. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.

Privacy Notice

What we collect — very little

Legal basis and your rights

Where any processing of personal data occurs (essentially transient server logs), our legal basis is legitimate interest in operating and securing the Service (UK GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)). You have rights under UK data protection law, including access, erasure and complaint to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk). Contact us at nick@ordinaryworld.co.uk for any privacy matter.

Children

The Service is suitable for general audiences and collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
